Multigenerational living or dual occupancy is a living arrangement that sees multiple generations under the same roof, such as a married couple living with their parents or a full family with their grandparents.
Leaving home is a part of the cycle of life but sometimes the kid-ults put off flying the coop much longer. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics a third of everyone over 20 has yet to leave home with the number of young adults still living with their parents having grown by an amazing 50% in the last three decades.
Every family is different and whether this fact has impacted
social living positively or negatively varies to each individual situation. However, the multigenerational living trend is becoming more and more acceptable and married couples and families are also choosing to stay home with parents allowing them to save for a deposit for their own home.
